迪来自越南北部，一个雾气笼罩的山区。她今年12岁，是一个苗族女孩。在这个少数民族里，女孩在很小的时候就会结婚。结婚前通常会有一个饱受争议的"抢婚"风俗，即女孩在新年前夕被她未来的丈夫“抢走“，随后两家人之间再进行协商。                                                                      　　迪的姐姐和她们的母亲也不例外，因此在婚前准备时，妇女和女孩们大方地谈论性和婚姻生活的情景并不特殊。与此同时，迪也在上学，在学校里她接触到了全然不同的价值观，甚至迪的母亲也以她自己的方式，试图告诫她的女儿关于童婚的问题。                                                                      　　在这里，孩子们既受到传统文化影响，同时也与外部世界相联系，导演阎夏乐在影片里娓娓道来这里的悠久习俗与现代价值观之间的冲突。作为她的第一部纪录长片，影片聚焦一位苗族少女所面临的挑战，但最重要的是，这是一部关于一位坚强的青少年，而不仅仅是一个受害者的动人影片。
